The Avangard SEZ presented the region’s investment potential in Urumqi.

A delegation from the Omsk Region participated in the events of the 9th China-Eurasia Expo, taking place in Urumqi, China.

The Omsk delegation included Mikhail Derevyanko, Deputy General Director of the Avangard SEZ, a representative of the My Business Center, and representatives of small and medium-sized businesses in the Omsk Region.

During the business program, Mikhail Derevyanko, Deputy General Director of the Avangard SEZ, delivered a presentation on the economic and investment potential of the Omsk Region. In his report, he outlined:

• the region’s key advantages for foreign investors
• opportunities for localizing production
• government support measures for business
• prospects for developing industrial cooperation.

Particular attention was paid to the potential of the Avangard SEZ as a platform for joint Russian-Chinese projects.

During his speech, Mikhail Derevyanko invited Chinese investors and business representatives to visit the Omsk Region to gain a more detailed understanding of the region’s investment opportunities and discuss prospects for cooperation.

The 9th China-Eurasian Expo is one of the largest international platforms for developing trade, economic, and investment cooperation between China, the countries of Central Asia, and the Eurasian region. In 2026, the expo will be held in Urumqi from June 25 to 29 at the Xinjiang International Expo Center. The forum is organized by the Ministry of Commerce of the People’s Republic of China, the People’s Government of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, and the Secretariat of the China-Eurasian Expo.

The business program included presentation sessions and B2B negotiations with representatives from China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, the UAE, and Russia.

The fact that Urumqi is a sister city of Omsk makes the visit particularly significant. Developing direct contacts between the business communities of the two cities opens up additional opportunities for strengthening trade, economic, and humanitarian ties, and promotes the further development of sister-city relations.

Results of the visit: The Omsk delegation held a series of business meetings and negotiations, during which contacts were established with dozens of Chinese companies interested in developing economic relations with the Omsk Region. The agreements reached provide the foundation for further expansion of cooperation in industry, logistics, investment, and international trade.
