Avantgarde Brings Omsk’s Metelitsa to China.
The Omsk Folk Song and Dance Ensemble “Metelitsa” is heading to China on tour. From December 19 to 22, 2025, the ensemble will perform at the International Ice Sculpture Festival in Manchuria. The trip is organized with the support of the Omsk City Administration and the Avantgarde Special Economic Zone.
The delegation includes 25 artists from dance and choral groups. The visit will begin with a gala performance by Metelitsa at the festival’s opening ceremony. Over the following days, the ensemble will perform a series of concerts showcasing a vibrant palette of Russian folk art: from fiery dances and lyrical round dances to the polyphony of folk songs.
The Omsk ensemble’s tour is a significant event in the development of sister-city relations between Omsk and Manchuria.
“Cultural dialogue is a solid foundation for friendship between cities and peoples. The participation of such a renowned ensemble as Metelitsa in the festival in Manchuria is not only a wonderful opportunity to showcase the richness of Russian culture, but also an important step in strengthening sister-city ties and imbuing them with new, vibrant content,” noted Inessa Vladlenovna Kolesen, Deputy Head of the International Cooperation Department of the Omsk City Administration.
The trip also has significant economic significance. Business meetings are planned for the Omsk delegation with representatives of the Manchurian business community.
Mikhail Yuryevich Derevyanko, Deputy General Director of the Avangard SEZ, emphasized: “As soon as the Omsk City Administration invited us to participate in the festival, we immediately agreed, as such cultural events help strengthen economic ties between regions. Organizing such events also makes a significant contribution to the development of the region’s ESG strategy and Public Capital Standard. Creating a favorable investment climate is impossible without human and cultural exchange. During the visit, we plan to organize meetings with Manchurian businesses to discuss specific issues related to the implementation of investment projects in the Omsk Region.”
Metelitsa’s performance at one of Asia’s most famous winter festivals will be a vibrant demonstration of the Omsk Region’s cultural potential and will contribute to strengthening its international standing.
