Large-scale construction of the Northern Bypass Road commenced in Omsk.
On October 3, 2025, construction of the Northern Bypass Road began in Omsk. It will be the largest infrastructure project in the region in recent years.
Key figures attended the opening ceremony, including Omsk Region Governor Vitaly Khotsenko, Gazprombank First Vice President Pavel Brusser, and Alexey Krapivin, CEO of the Natsproektstroy Group of Companies. Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin and Transport Minister Andrey Nikitin joined the event via teleconference.
Vitaly Khotsenko noted that the new bypass road will significantly relieve congestion on city roads, improve air quality, and enhance the living conditions of Omsk residents. He also emphasized that the project will provide an important impetus for the development of the northern part of the agglomeration, including new manufacturing and housing construction. The bypass road will be a key route for residents of the Avangard special economic zone and the new Omsk-Fyodorovka Airport.
The first section, including the bridge across the Irtysh, is expected to open to traffic in 2028, with the entire project scheduled for completion in 2030. Once the new highway opens, traffic is expected to reach approximately 12,000 vehicles per day, increasing to 32,000 by 2047.
It is important to note that one of the Northern Bypass interchanges will be located near the Krasnoyarsk Highway, significantly improving accessibility for residents of the Avangard Special Economic Zone. This will allow them to avoid congested city streets and access federal highways directly in both directions.
