Russia Approves Social Capital Standard for Assessing Business Contribution to National Development
This week, Russia witnessed a significant change in the business environment: the Social Capital Standard for Business was approved. This is a unified “framework” that allows for an objective assessment of how beneficial a company’s activities are not only for the economy but also for people, the city, and the country as a whole.
For us, this isn’t just news; it’s a great responsibility. Omsk Oblast became the first region in Siberia to be included in the 15 pilot territories. Participation in the Standard’s pilot is a sign of trust and recognition that Omsk enterprises are committed to being proactive.
What’s the essence?
The Standard, developed at the request of Russian President Vladimir Putin, is built on five key areas (the “five Cs”):
▶️ A healthy environment – fostered by companies both internally and externally;
▶️ Employees – people as the most important asset (working conditions, development);
▶️ Society — positive changes beyond the enterprise’s borders;
▶️ Strategy — strengthening market positions through long-term development;
▶️ Country — alignment with national goals and regional priorities.
As a reminder, the Avangard SEZ has already received Ambassador status for this Standard. The agreement was signed at the 3rd International SEZ Forum in Nizhny Novgorod. The special economic zone’s operations are based on responsible business practices, where financial efficiency is achieved through sustainable development, honest dialogue with society, and concern for the future.
Together, we are shaping a people-centered economy.
