The Avangard SEZ has won a special category in the ESG rating of Russian special economic zones.
The results of the 3rd Sustainable Development Rating (ESG) of special economic zones were announced at the SEZ-2025 International Forum in Nizhny Novgorod. Twenty-four zones from 22 regions across the country participated in the study.
The rating was prepared by the Association of Clusters, Technology Parks, and SEZs of Russia with the support of the Ministry of Economic Development. The rating methodology is based on the non-financial reporting disclosure standard and considers three sets of indicators: environmental policy, social responsibility, and corporate governance.
“Sustainable development principles are reflected in various areas of business, society, and government. They are actively integrated into legislation, the financial sector, and companies’ operational activities. The Ministry of Economic Development, as the regulator in the field of sustainable development, ensures that this agenda is consistent with the goals of national projects and improves people’s quality of life,” noted First Deputy Minister of Economic Development Maxim Kolesnikov.
The Avangard Special Economic Zone was recognized in a special category for its systematic work in the area of sustainable development.
“The Avangard SEZ is one of the sites testing the achievement of carbon neutrality. We are systematically working to implement ESG principles: we have developed the necessary policies and documents, conducted an audit, and received international certificates. We are confident that this approach will enhance our competitiveness, attract investment, and become a driver for new large-scale projects and economic growth,” noted Viktor Sobolev, Director of the Avangard SEZ.
