The Omsk enterprise, through participation in the national project, increased employee salaries and plans to expand production
In the Omsk region, expert support for the national project “Labor Productivity”, which is being implemented by decision of the country’s President Vladimir Putin, helped NPP Spetstekh achieve a 10 percent increase in output at the reference site.
A final meeting on the six months of implementation of the national project was held at the Spetstekh research and production enterprise. Denis Kushner, First Deputy Minister of Economy of the Omsk Region, visited the company’s premises.
“During the implementation of the national project, 70 enterprises of the Omsk region became its participants. Monitoring carried out by the Regional Competence Center showed that, on average, across enterprises production increased by almost 40% and process times and production losses were reduced. Thus, enterprises reduce their costs and receive additional profits, which they can use for development purposes,” noted Denis Kushner.
“NPP Spetstekh” is engaged in the production of metal products for the oil and gas, energy and other industries. The company has its own accredited and certified laboratory. Experts from the Regional Competence Center and a project team from among the company’s employees implemented lean manufacturing tools in the induction bending workshop of large-diameter pipeline bends.
Plant director Viktor Vakula said that the site for improvement was not chosen by chance: there are investments ahead in production, the creation of workshops that will produce a new line of import-substituting products, as well as the creation of new jobs.
“We started studying the federal program “Labor Productivity” before we decided to implement it. Since March last year, we began talking with the Ministry of Economy and the Ministry of Industry about our participation in the project. Since June, we have begun to implement lean production tools on a full scale. Thanks to this, we have achieved a reduction in time lost on preparatory work, reduced time lost on selecting tool equipment by more than 37%, the production culture has significantly improved, and we have worked out the logistics of moving products. In general, we saw advantages and changes in our enterprise thanks to the national project. First, we trained specialists in engineering and technical positions, then we selected a site and fully trained the working staff. People began to treat differently. We have placed an information center so that an employee, before starting his duties, can clearly get acquainted with what he will have to do during the shift, the month, and what his plans are. Thanks to the national project and production growth, we increased workers’ salaries from 10 to 20 percent,” said Viktor Vakula, director of the NPP Spetstekh plant.
Over the course of six months, the working group successfully completed a set of planned activities: they carried out diagnostics, analyzed the flow, identified bottlenecks, built a “goal tree”, the management team and the working group were trained in the basics of lean production, carried out standardized work, and were repeatedly trained in industrial training “Process Factory” site.
“These events allowed the company to optimize the movement of components and finished products, and introduce auxiliary tools to simplify the work of employees. As a result, the time to find the necessary tools was reduced by 37%, and additional space increased by 90%,” shared Vitaly Komissarov, project manager of the Regional Competence Center.
The implementation of the national project at the enterprise is designed for 3 years. In 6 months, a sample flow will be created and internal trainers will be trained to implement lean production tools. Over the next 2.5 years, the company will independently continue to replicate lean technologies to other production areas. Experts will provide consulting support within the framework of the national project.
Managers of Omsk companies can submit an application to participate in the national project on the portal производительность.рф. Consultation can be obtained from the Omsk Ministry of Economy by phone: 79-09-27.
In the Omsk region, assistance to enterprises in improving processes and introducing a lean production culture is provided by experts from the Federal and Regional Competence Centers in the field of labor productivity in cooperation with the Ministry of Economy with the support of line ministries.
